This research work specifies the scholarly work done by the great critic, <em>Imam Bazzar</em> in the field of <em>Hadith defection</em> provided in his valuable book <em>Musnad Al-Bazzar</em> (Collection of Prophetic traditions).&nbsp; The entire research work is divided into three main parts. The first part provides a brief introduction of the author, and his book "<em>Musnad al-Bazzar</em> ". The second part describes the science of <em>Hadith Defection </em>“ ‘<em>Ilal</em>” &nbsp;and overview of the writings on the subject. Where the meaning of mediation has been referred to, and prayers have been requested to help those in need. The historical context of the theological intercession was explained, From primitive people's, through pagan people's, to Jews and Christians. The conditions of the intercession of atonement were agreed upon. From the necessity of believing in the righteousness of Christ, the giving of his blood, and the connection with the permanence of life, to gain his intercession, Then the types of theological intercession were mentioned, as the Catholics, Protestants, and their respective denominations agreed on the penitential intercession, Protestants rejected the other intercessions proven by the Catholics, the intercession of the Holy Spirit, the saints, and the angels. They falsely and lyingly say, “Surely, he had no knowledge of the pure Sunnah and the hadiths of the Noble Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) and, even if he did, then it was very little. In view of its centrality in Islamic social life, it has attracted significant scholarly debate among scholars of the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence. However, it is not easy for ordinary readers to grasp in the finer conceptual aspects that attend the concept of Nikah, more so in view of the enormity of the scholarly works on the subject penned down by scholars of the different schools of Muslim jurisprudence. Based on the analysis of the views and explanations of some leading men of letters of various schools, this article attempts to frame a kaleidoscopic picture of the concept of Nikah in Islam, its literal meaning, and the various tricky points related to Nikah. In doing so, it compares and analyses the juridical opinions of the jurists of the four schools. As a qualitative research, it is primarily textual and critical analysis of the written and published works of the scholars on the issues being examined. It entails hermeneutics, thematic analysis and synthesis of various views in order to derive and clarify key themes and issues related to the concept of Nikah.</p> Muhammad Ismail Roghani Copyright (c) 2020 Al-Idah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://al-idah.szic.pk/index.php/al-idah/article/view/632 Sun, 19 Jul 2020 23:44:46 -0400 The Narrations of Sufyānaīn in Shahīh al-Bukhārī http://al-idah.szic.pk/index.php/al-idah/article/view/649 <p>Indubitably, Sahīh al-Bukhārī considers one of the most authentic books in the hadith literature due to the methodology of Imām al-Bukhārī (d. 256/870) in the collection of hadith because he narrated ahādīth from those narrators that credited with trustworthy from hadith scrutinizers. Sufyān al-Thawrī (d. 161/777) and Sufyān b. Uyaynah (d. 198/813) are among those narrators that graded trustworthy and reliable. Most of the al-Bukhārī teachers gained their knowledge of hadith and its sciences from both of them. Therefore, they have a massive number of ahādīth in Sahīh al-Bukhārī. It is noticed that the students of Sufyān al-Thawrī and Ibn Uyaynah usually refer to them on their names, which is helpful in the access to their narrations. However, there are a certain number of narrations in Sahāh al-Bukhārī that ascribed to Sufyān, and there is not any clue that whether these narrations belong to Sufyān al-Thawrī or Sufyān b. Uyaynah. A general conclusion grown-out of the historical position of both narrators that Sufyān al-Thawrī is the preceptor of Sufyān b. Uyaynah. Hence whenever there are two intermediaries among al-Bukhārī and Sufyān, it would be al-Thawrī, and whenever there is one narrator between al-Bukhārī and Sufyān, it would be Ibn Uyaynah. The study focused on the five hundred and seventy-eight (578) ahādīth in Sahīh al-Bukhārī that narrated through fourteen (14) narrators from Sufyān al-Thawrī or Ibn Uyaynah and those narrators referred to their source in sanad on Sufyān only. Consequently, the study analyzed the general conclusion about both narrators as well as revealed that how many ahādīth narrated through every narrator from Sufyān al-Thawrī and Ibn Uyaynah.
